San Jose Workshops, San Jose Pottery, and Mission Arts and Crafts were all companies that created ceramic works during the 1920s thru to the 1950s. Their WPA era works and murals are particularly prized. All created in San Antonio, Texas under the creative direction of Ethel Wilson Harris (read Susan Toomey Frost's book "Color on Clay' for the definitive explanation) and the talented artist (and Flamenco Dancer!) Fernando Ramos. The brilliant colors of their glaze formulations were also carried south of the border to LAMOSA, which produced tile and pottery in Ladrilla Mexico, SA to create wares so popular in the American Market and exported for use in Spanish Revival homes.
